The Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce and Major Sponsor Byers Choice, Ltd. presented the Annual Byers Bucks Fever Art Exhibition. The 2008 exhibit ran from April 9 to 23 at Keenan Motors, 4311 Swamp Rd., Doylestown. This year’s exhibit, titled “Explore Bucks – Places and Faces” opened with a reception on Wednesday, April 9, 5 to 7 pm at the Keenan Motors showroom which was generously supported by Côté Catering, Doylestown and Buckingham Valley Vineyards, Buckingham.

The event is an artistically guided tour of 31 historic and contemporary Bucks County treasures. Ranulph Bye’s popular and detailed Bucks County map launches the show as the artistic journey begins in Doylestown with paintings, tileworks, stained glass and a courthouse bell by artists Joan Bitzer, Edward Byrne, Sr., Ranulph Bye, David Frame, Tom Linker and George Sotter.

Representing the Buckingham-Solebury area is a four-dimensional bronze sculpture of Picasso by George Anthonisen and self-portraits of Nelson Shanks and Arthur Bye. The culturally rich New Hope-Lambertville region emerges with a rather large, historic surprise on loan from the Eagle Fire Company, which segues into the neighboring Continental Bank painting by Joseph Crilley. Paintings by Daniel Anthonisen, Robert Beck, Dot Bunn, John Folinsbee, Jean Halter and John Sharp embrace a variety of scenic vista’s and welcoming sights. Photos by Pearl Mintzer and Jack Rosen will be included, as well as Mary Hood’s needlepoint runners of the historic Springdale property.

Encapsulating a potpourri of Bucks County regions and visual elements will be Robert Whitley’s Bucks County Seal, Madeline Smith’s Pearl Buck sculpture, Ben Solowey’s self-portrait, Glenna Bye’s Wycombe Bridge and a unique collection of highly recognizable postcard scenes. The visual tour concludes geographically back in Doylestown with Ranulph Bye’s Nathan James House painting and Lucille Morgnanesi’s portrait of the exhibition sponsors Bob and Joyce Byers.

Admission to the Byers Bucks Fever Art exhibition reception and exhibit is free. For more information, please call the Chamber at 215-348-3913 x115.
